Early Childhood Music Educator Since 1999

Welcome

Welcome

Early Childhood Music Teacher, Jana Vitols, disguises music education in a costume of play, teaching foundational musical skills through a lens of wonder and curiosity. She offers classes to infants, toddlers, preschoolers and Pre-K children at VCU Health Family Care Center, in Richmond, Virginia. Jana also teaches private ukulele and banjo lessons to students of all ages online.

As an early childhood music specialist, she has shared her love of music with young children & families for the past 22 years. Her curriculum draws upon a musical palette of classical, folk, world, and improvisational music & movement traditions. Jana’s pedagogy is strongly influenced by her study of Dalcroze/Eurhythmics, a teaching approach that aligns music with movement, along with her degree in Dance Movement Therapy, (BA Naropa University). Working to foster a love of music in her students, she shares her musical skills as a vocalist, accompanying classes on violin, ukulele, banjo, banjolele, and guitar.

Jana has offered her classes in the greater Seattle area and Richmond teaching at Reggio, Montessori, Play-Based and Co-op preschools, libraries, family resource centers, shelters, music schools and Seattle Symphony’s Discovery Music Center. Working at this variety of settings has offered her a chance to nurture a broad spectrum of children.

As Music for Everyone’s founding Director & lead teacher, she offered award winning parent & child music classes for over a decade. These groups engaged families in musical activities, developing emotional bonds and early literacy connections, while facilitating joyful musical experiences. Music for Everyone was recognized by Seattle’s Parent Map-Golden Teddy Award for “Best Toddler Class.”

Beyond the classroom she performed with the children’s music project, Your Imaginary Friend, with concerts at Seattle’s Town Hall, Seattle Symphony’s Soundbridge and various other venues, and festivals. Additionally, she created and curated a children’s radio hour for Hollow Earth Radio, producing a weekly broadcast.

Jana Vitols has a gift for teaching music in a way that makes everyone smile and feel that they belong.

Jana’s music classes are a highlight of our children’s week. The combination of vocals, instrumental music and movement feeds our children’s bodies and minds. In addition, our monthly community sing-a-longs bring parents, teachers, and children together to engage in joyful song and dance. Jana brings skill, professionalism, flexibility and a lifetime of (musical) experience. We love music with Jana!
