Early Childhood Music Teacher, Jana Vitols, disguises music education in a costume of play. She offers classes to Seattle area infants, toddlers, preschoolers and Pre-K children in schools and throughout the broader community.
Her music classes teach children foundational music skills while encouraging them to discover their own unique musical expression. As a multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, Jana’s interactive music groups engage children in sound exploration and imaginative musical activities. She presents a variety of songs from the traditional canon of children’s music, enhanced by original melodies and multi-lingual pieces. Inspired by the Dalcroze/Eurhythmics pedagogy, her classes invite children to explore the relationship between music and movement. Together students learn musical patterns through folk dancing, as well as express and interpret sound through open movement scores. The children enjoy puppets, books, slinkies, scarves and small percussion instruments as a way to enhance the imaginative possibilities for developing rhythmic, melodic and improvisational skills.
Jana Vitols has a gift for teaching music in a way that makes everyone smile and feel that they belong.
Jana’s music classes are a highlight of our children’s week. The combination of vocals, instrumental music and movement feeds our children’s bodies and minds. In addition, our monthly community sing-a-longs bring parents, teachers, and children together to engage in joyful song and dance. Jana brings skill, professionalism, flexibility and a lifetime of (musical) experience. We love music with Jana!
